In the morning
At 8:00 am, our Saigon private car driver and excellent local tour guide will pick you up at your hotel lobby in Ho Chi Minh City center to start your tour. Initially, we will travel to Tay Ninh province to visit the impressive Cao Dai Temple of the monotheistic religion of Caodaism.
We will learn more about this sect and its relationship to Buddhism, Christianity, and Confucianism. In particular, Caodaism is the only religion in Vietnam that worships only 1 eye of Heaven, and under Heaven’s eye, they worship everyone. Therefore, you will see the symbolic Left Eye of God and have a great chance to attend the noon ceremony held by the followers of Caodaism.
In the afternoon
Around 11:30 am, We will enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will go to explore Cu Chi Tunnels (Củ Chi Tunnels) and learn more about the underground rooms used by the Viet Cong soldiers during the Vietnam War.
It is an extraordinary and impressive tunnel system with a total length of over 250 km, with 3 different depth levels. The upper floor is about 3 m above the ground, the middle floor is about 5-8 m above the ground, and the bottom floor is more than 12 m deep.
Therefore, the tunnels were no longer just a shelter but had become a place for living. We will explore the underground field hospitals, weapon factories, command centers, etc. This tunnel system has many entrances as well as traps. Furthermore, we will try some of the main foods of the Viet Cong soldiers, with cassava served with tangy tea.
